2Step 2

First open: your Mac double-checks

The first time you open Golem, macOS shows this dialog. It appears for every app downloaded outside the App Store. Apple has already scanned Golem and found no malicious software (that's what the dialog itself says). Click Open.

“Golem” is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?

Safari downloaded this file today. Apple checked it for malicious software and none was detected.

3Step 3

Allow the microphone

Golem needs the microphone to hear you when you dictate. Your audio is processed in real time and immediately discarded, never stored. Click Allow.

“Golem” would like to access the microphone.

Golem uses the microphone to turn your voice into text while you dictate.

4Step 4

Enable Accessibility

This is the permission that lets Golem type the transcribed text into the app you're using and react to your keyboard shortcut. Without it, Golem can hear you but can't write for you. macOS will guide you to System Settings; just turn Golem on:
